DIET :

Iron and zinc
Iron and zinc help hair follicles to grow,Eating lean red meat, which is rich in both nutrients, twice a week.Non meat sources such as soybeans or lentils, with a vitamin C-rich food like an orange to boost iron absorption.

Vitamin D

Several studies have found that vitamin D may help activate hair growth. However, VITAMIN D is little differnt. Few foods contain it naturally, and although sitting in the sun for a few minutes a day can help your body produce vitamin d in sufficient amounts.But increased exposure to u.v rays can pose another danger.

Protein

As protein is the building block of body.It is required by essentially each and every cell of body.Needless to say,good amount of protein is good for hair also.

What are the best sources?
Most people with a well-rounded diet eat enough protein, but it’s important to include complete proteins, which contain all nine of the essential amino acids. Sources of complete protein include meat, fish, eggs, most dairy products, and soybeans. Fruits, vegetables, and whole grains are often missing certain amino acids, but they can be combined to make a complete protein meal.

Omega-3 Fatty Acids

Eating. fatty fish (like salmon) twice a week for hydrated hair,or up to 1 gram a day of a DHA and EPA supplement. In addition to long silky hair, omega-3s may too relieve depression and are a proven to increase HDL cholesterol proven for healthy heart.

Biotin

Eggs are rich in biotin which is a B vitamin, essential for growth. (They’re also an excellent source of protein, choline, and vitamin D.)You could also take 30mcg supplement daily.

Turmeric (haldi): our ancestors have long ago described the healing powers of turmeric. Now even western research has endorsed our beliefs that it can lead to potent anti inflammatory effects in body.

                   Its role in hair is justified by the fact that when there is some evidence of baldness,coexisting are the changes of inflammation.Body’s natural defence system can be seen over active at the level of diseased hair roots.so we can see inflammation at the level of hair follicles.This inflammatory activity is directly proportional to the severity of hair fall. when a regular intake of turmeric is started orally, we see its effects at end of almost 6 weeks in form of reduced hair fall and microscopically reduced inflammation.

Fenugreek (methi): It can be used as green leaves either cooked in vegetable or can be taken with salads . Second way is to grind the seeds and make a paste for use as local application over scalp/or to use the residual water for drinking.

  Nutritionally fenugreek is a rich source of protein,calcium ,iron and phosphorus in decending order.

  so needless to say approximately 70 to 100 grams of spinach can do wonders. Just try it for 3 weeks.

Amla (gooseberry) :

Indian gooseberry is frrely avaible either in form of raw fruit or in form of juices,powder,preserved pickle,or jam and jaggery.According to me i feel that best form of intake for indian gooseberry is in from of fresh grated juice diluted with normal drinking water and a little honey added to mask its bitterness.

Basic nutritional constituents in amla are as follows :

 Approx 445 grams of ascorbic acid (vitamin c)per 100 grams,very strong antioxidants like ellagetanins like emblicanin,emblicanin b,punigluconin,punicafolin,phyllanemblinin a,phyllanemblin,flavenoids,gallic acid etc.

 
 

Stress is a major detriment for almost all the organs of body.I have done a lot of reserch regarding the role of stress on human body.

There is a consensus regarding harmful effects of steroids(corticosteroids) and adrenal hormones (adrenaline and nor adrenaline) which are main stress hormones when body is exposed to a stimulus which induce fight or flight response.

For an example if we see a deer in a jungle who is grazing grass and is suddenly confronted by a hidden tiger who is trying to hunt that deer for his young cub .Now both these animals are in fight mode. Tiger fighting to hunt the deer for feeding its family and deer in fight mode to run so that it can safe its life.After a long chase deer somehow manages to escape and whoops…..now what.We see tiger now resting under a dense shade and cooling its body ,preparing for the next chase.Deer on the other end, after escape again busy in grazing green grass.Never we see that deer is no more grazing and is in somekind of hurry or frightened mode everafter for a even a small time.We humans have developed a strange magnified version of same fight or flight response.

We now are able to enter in the same fight or flight mode by even a thought of some uneasy situation like for example,some monthly target to achive,some assignment to finish,or boss’s reaction while asking for a holiday in emergency. We are always bathed in the melieu of above stress hormones.

How do the hormones than affect our hair cycle.

 As a normal response there is major shifting of blood towards skin and muscles when we are in stress.This incresed cutaneous flow of blood coupled with increased turnover of all skin elements leads excessive flaking of dead skin,with increased dandruff with decreased scalp ph.Hair fall is due to high growth rate of hair roots which become little less anchored to skin.

My advise to all hair fall clients is to go into stress free period for betterment of whole body atleast twice a day for 20 sessions each.This 40 minutes session of stressfree period will allow rejuvenation all levels.

Meditation can be of any kind,but 20 min morning and evening will do the best.

Telogen effuvium is very much known after few monthe of stress period.may it be exams time,child birth,deep grief due to demise of some near one and so on.

Genes of a person can influence greatly the thickness and color of hair.In certain cases we have noticed that at a certain age there is gradual thinning of otherwise healthy hair follicles. This thinning can not be attributed to any specific cause or event. In some selected cases we have noticed the role of dht i.e the reason behind typical male pattern baldness.although there is not direct way to elucidate the fact,yet we can see that giving dht blockers like finasteride do help these type of cases. And despite our best efforts ,we are not able to find out any reason behind thinning of hair on scalp.

Now i will be discussing the best strategy to diagnose your problem yourself.Inspect your shed of roots under a magnifier,a normal convex lens will be good enough.

If you find there is variation in diameter of hair shafts and this variation is more than 20 percent than most probably you are suffering from genetic baldness.If the shed off roots are all of same diameter and you can see clear white bulb under each hair shaft, than its telogen effluvium.If the shafts are of same diameter and few hair strands are very weak or thin (20 percent of fallen roots are very thin than its nutritional.

Now i will discuss about how to diagnose  your own hair loss.

you will need a magnifier,which is a simple convex lens .Now collect the hair shafts and place on white paper .

If the diameter of shafts shows variation of more  than 20 percent among the hair shafts than it indicates a genetic issue.

if there is color variation among the hair shafts and size variation is less than 20 percent in between individiual follicles than it is nutritional

If diameter of roots are same and a completely formed structure is visible. with white club root at the end of shaft ,it is telogen effluvium.

 

Most important is treatment part.just read the explanation carefully and a word of caution regading adoption of measures is that these treatment modalities are designed by myself (dr.vikram kamboj) and based upon my own experience in the field.

  1. First step is to improve your nutrition,read preceding documents and add suitable nutrients .

  2. Start with 20 minutes twice a day meditation .

  3. start a multivitamin pill which has most of trace elements discussed above. if after 21 days you find no improvement than its time to seek medical help.just vist your hair doctor get microscopic examination done and continue with further advise
